Couch Potato
This project started as a way to observe the detritus that we remove from our house and as usual, its range and breadth grew into something more like an investigation into social status. This ongoing project is recorded with the same film stock and camera every time to keep continuity, tone, and perspective as close to the same each time. Each image is not just about the furniture being disposed of, but the story of what it might have seen and done, its age, and its usefulness to others that might use or require it. These objects seem to have lives beyond their 'death'. Their usefulness will continue on in one way or another, yet waste is something else we inherently practice as well. We now live and thrive in a disposable society and these objects have little value once they have seemed to outlived their use.
